By default, the MAP-3100 is “Auto IP” enabled.
The Auto IP algorithm is used for MAP-3000 to create a non-overlapping IP subnet for its WiFi Local AP interface at each mesh node.
Whenever you power-on the MAP-3000 for the first time, each MAP-3000 will have its own IP subnet that will be formatted as 172.x.y.0/24. And MAP-3100 itself will take 172.x.y.1 as the gateway for this 172.x.y.0/24 IP subnet.
So, if you have a wired or wireless PC, you can get the IP address automatically whenever you attach this PC to the MAP-3000 through WiFi interface or LAN interface, the DHCP server of MAP-3000 will provides the IP address to this attached PC.
With “Auto IP”, the network installer can just power on the mesh nodes without fear of IP overlapping or IP arrangements. This shall speed up the wireless network installation with just turn it on.
Of course, if the network installer would like to have his/her own IP subnet for each mesh node, “Auto IP” can be turned off to meet different IP network planning.
