No, DMA-200 supports the Netowrk Neighhood feature in the firmware version 1.17.50 or above.If your PC already turn on the file share, then you can just key in the name of the PC or NAS using the IP Address or UNC and together with the shared folder name. Then, the DMA-200 can easily and quickly connect to the target PC or NAS.
Please follow the steps below to turn on the features.
1. Please check the firmware of your DMA-200 is at least version 1.17.50 (You can check the firwmare verstion from Setup -> Version on DMA-200)
2. Configure the Network Neighood (From Setup -> System Setup -> Other Settings -> Network Option, please enable “Samba Client”)
3. Key in the IP address and the shared folder name in the format on “Samba Client Share” field
e.g
//192.168.0.3/MyDocument
//192.168.0.100/Movies
//NAS7100/Photos
johhson@PWD//NAS7200/Music
Where there are IP of the PCs, UNC of the NAS, name@password in front of the double slash for login name and password.
4. After return to the main menu, and you can go to “My Media” option,the above devices (if existed on the network) will show up in the file list, then you can select which format you want to play such as Video, Music, and Photo…etc, or you can directly press Video/Music/Photo key from the remote controller.
Then, you can freely browse the folders although DMS is not installed.
