[XRT-401F] What happen if I set the Router mode to Bridge mode?

By default, the XRT-401F is a NAT firewall Router. And in the Admin setting page, there is an option called Function Mode. And the pre-defined mode will be Router.

However, if you set the mode to Bridge, then, your XRT-401F will become a 5-port switch (WAN comes to port #5)

You can still use the LAN IP address to see the setup Web page of the XRT-401F. However, there will be no any router function any more. So, all the Router related services, such as NAT, Firewall, Routing, and Others are no longer available.

Yet, at the same time, it will support 802.1q-based VLAN as an add-on feature. It can be viewed as a simple 5-port web smart switch.

The only knowing limitation for this 5-port Smart Switch will be that it can only be managed in the same IP subnet. PLANET will not enhance this limitation due to it is not the main function of XRT-401F, the Internet Broadband Router.
