[NMS-500 and NMS-1000V] How do I use the Active Client List feature?

Follow the steps below:

1. Ensure that the AP and NMS-500 are running the following firmware versions or later:

  • AP: v1.2410b260803
  • NMS-500: v1.0b260803

To obtain the latest firmware, visit the PLANET Download Center:

  https://www.planet.com.tw/en/support/downloads

2. Use a PC to format the USB flash drive with the FAT32 file system.

3. Insert the USB flash drive into the USB port of the NMS-500.

4. Navigate to Home → Maintenance → Backup/Restore and open the Storage / Retention page.

5. On the Storage / Retention page, verify that USB Status shows Ready.

6. Click the Initialize Storage button.

7. After initialization is complete, click the Refresh button and confirm that USB Status returns to Ready.

8. Optional: Modify the storage settings as needed, then click the Apply button to save the changes.

9. Verify that the AP is managed by the NMS-500 and is running the latest firmware.

If the AP uses DHCP, remove it from the NMS-500 and then add it again to prevent issues if its IP address changes.

10. Connect a mobile phone or laptop to the AP.

11. The AP reports client information to the NMS-500 every 90 seconds.

Wait approximately 90 seconds, then navigate to Statistic → AP Client List to view the client data.

12. If the system status message “AP Client external snapshots are unavailable” appears under AP Client List, the USB flash drive is not ready.

Remove and reinsert the USB flash drive. If the message persists, try another USB flash drive.
