UTP/STP (for 10Base-T, 100Base-TX and 1000Base-T) is the most widely used cabling because it is the only solution allowing structured wiring cabling systems. Virtually all new networks are based on this cabling (unless F/O is essential). Coaxial cables (10Mbps only) may still be found in existing networks, however, they are soon replaced by 10Base-T as soon as budget allows.
