Before configuring the WDS connection, the following steps are required:
1) Configure the two WNRT-617/627 (Terms of Router Devices in the following) with different IP address of the same IP subnet. (e.g. 192.168.1.1 as Site-1 & 192.168.1.2 as Site-2)
2) In each site of PC, manually assign a static IP address. (e.g. 192.168.1.100 as Site-1 & 192.168.1.200 as Site-2)
3) Disable the option of DHCP Server in Site-2. (“DHCP→ DHCP Settings→ DHCP Server”)

The procedure of WDS connection:
1) In Site-1 & Site-2, Go to “Wireless→ Wireless Settings”. Configure a fixed “Channel” in both sites; the channel should be the same. Then check the option “Enable WDS Bridging” as shown below:

2) Enter the SSID and BSSID (MAC address) of each other, or click “Survey” button to search the remote site.

3) Use command line tool to ping each other. If both sites can ping each other, then the connection is successful.
※ Configure an encryption key is strongly recommended, please be note that the encryption type and key must be the same and configured properly in both sites.

1) Power off the WNAP-6305 first before connecting the external antenna to it.
