PLANET Technology Adopts DHL GoGreen Plus Service to Reduce Carbon Emissions via Sustainable Aviation Fuel

  • PLANET Technology becomes the first company in Taiwan to utilize DHL’s GoGreen Plus service
  • With the GoGreen Plus service, DHL will help PLANET reduce carbon emissions in logistics and transportation

PLANET Technology, a global leading IP-based networking company, has announced its cooperation with DHL, the world’s leading international express delivery service provider, to become the first company in Taiwan to utilize the GoGreen Plus service. By using the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Plan through the GoGreen Plus service, DHL will help PLANET reduce carbon emissions in logistics and transportation, thus contributing to achieving a sustainable supply chain.

PLANET is a trusted brand in providing innovative networking products and solutions to the worldwide market. Since its establishment in 1993, PLANET has been using the delivery service from DHL. With the GoGreen Plus service from DHL, a fixed amount of SAF is used in the process of shipping on all delivery routes, mainly in the United States and Europe. The service is able to reduce carbon emissions from international shipping by 10 percent year-on-year, accelerating PLANET’s sustainability commitment to net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Jack Chen, Chairman and CEO of PLANET Technology, said “Sustainable development of PLANET is a significant part of PLANET’s values and vision. In response to climate change, PLANET aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and is committed to developing a sustainable supply chain. We have a healthy long-term history working sustainably with DHL and through the GoGreen Plus service, we can further reduce carbon emissions from logistics to shipping. We look forward to our continued partnership so as to further promote environmental sustainability for enterprises.”

With its emphasis on the R&D of eco-friendly product design to improve environmental protection, energy savings, and low carbon emissions, PLANET sets standards for developing products with “green” design that include technical development, sourcing, manufacturing, product use, transporting and recycling. PLANET has promoted green supply chain management, via a dedicated online platform, cooperating with our suppliers to manage green products and carbon footprint. PLANET has also become part of the Carbon Disclosure Project and a Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) supporter. Additionally, the sponsorship of Pinglin organic tea plantation and the rice stubble burning reduction program promoted by PLANET help to prevent air pollution and reduce carbon emissions. Particularly, we are glad that DHL Express Taiwan joined us in the rice stubble-burning reduction program to further expand sustainable practices.

The GoGreen Plus service is part of Deutsche Post DHL Group's sustainability goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, accelerating the goal of utilizing 30 percent SAF by 2030. Insetting through GoGreen Plus allows customers to reduce their Scope 3 emissions, the indirect greenhouse gas emissions that occur in a company's value chain, including downstream transportation and distribution. Unlike offsetting initiatives, GoGreen Plus (insetting) reduces emissions within the logistics sector and therewith can be used for DHL customers’ own voluntary emission reporting and follows the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi) philosophy.
