Yes, the VC-230 and VC-230N have the same HW / SW platform; you can connect VC-230 and VC-230N together for network applications. Just remember to configure one device for CO mode and the other is CPE mode.
About this message, that's because the OS system is missing the file "MSVCR71.dll" (xxx). Please put the EPL-1000 CD into your CD/DVD drive and you can find this file within the directory "E:\Utility\UT-EPL1000_R141\msvcr71" (Assume drive E: is your CD/DVD ROM).
Copy the file "MSVCR71.dll" to the "c:\\windows\system" directory (the windows default directory) and then you can run the Utility again to manage your GEPON OLT.
Note:
The DLL file Msvcr71.dll belongs to the Microsoft Visual C Runtime library version 7.1 engine. Some of Microsoft and non-Microsoft applications need to use it. There can be many reasons for these missing Msvcr71.dll errors, such as Malware infections, Damaged Registry and etc. In order to run these applications properly, you need to fix this error first.
There are two different standards:
1) Homeplug 1.0/1.0 Turbo for 14Mbps & 85Mbps, such as PL-104 and PL-420
2) Homeplug AV for 200Mbps, 500Mbps, and 1G, such as PL-701
It should work with the same HomePlug AV device which is another PL-701.
It could co-existence with HomePlug 1.0 or HomePlug 1.0 Turbo such as PL-104 or PL-420 in the same domain, but cannot connect with PL-104 and PL-420 (Homeplug 1.0)
