PLANET's Wireless Access Point Wins "Editor's Choice" by PC Plus Magazine

PLANET today announced that its wireless access point, WAP-1965, has been chosen by PC Plus Malaysia Magazine as the "Editor's Choice" winner in its May lab test. As the editors highly praised, "Planet strikes the perfect balance of feature, performance, and most importantly - price."

"The PLANET WAP-1965 has enough features to keep you going and also good enough performance." Said the editor of PC Plus Malaysia Magazine. The editor concluded that set up a hotspot with one of Planet WAP-1965.

About PLANET WAP-1965 & Wireless LAN Roadmap
WAP-1965 is an IEEE 802.11b+ Wireless Access Point. Based on TI's Packet Binary Convolutional Coding (PBCC) technology (which is the candidate for the IEEE 802.11g standard), WAP-1965 automatically adjusts to the fastest rate possible, from 4x mode, 22Mbps, 11 Mbps, to 2Mbps. It is also backward compatible and interoperable with IEEE 802.11b compliant wireless devices. Except for 64/128bit WEP encryption, WEP-256 and MAC address filtering is also provided to increase security and privacy. Provided with two reversed-polarity SMA male connector, WAP-1965 is easy to connect external antenna and booster to extend the wireless distance up to 40km.

Four operational modes including AP, AP Client, Point to Point Bridge, and Point to Multipoint Bridge widen the usage of WAP-1965. Being a standard Wireless AP, WAP-1965 together with any other wireless access points provides the seamless integration between Ethernet network and Wireless network and also offers the roaming for all the Wireless mobile devices. AP client mode turns Ethernet devices into a wireless client. As switch to wireless bridging operation mode, having two or more LANs in different buildings connected is no more need to through physical and costly wires, WAP-1965 installed in these buildings soon provides 22Mbps transfer rate 24/7 without any additional costs. Cost effective in LAN-to-LAN and LAN-to-Multi-LAN connection, WAP-1965 should be the choice of your network extension.

PLANET is one of leaders to deliver IEEE standard 802.11g Wireless LAN products in market. After the IEEE 802.11g standard was final on June 12, Planet currently gets ready to deliver standard 802.11g and develop dual mode 802.11a+g specification in the third quarter this year.
